Meet the Doctor
Using a combination of techniques including chiropractic neurology, functional medicine, sports medicine, and chiropractic care, Dr. Paul D. Austin has been committed to providing top quality health care in Boulder County since 1987. Dr. Austin believes in treating the whole person. This requires a balance of the emotional/mental, chemical and physical aspects of the patient. Dr. Austin understands that pain in one area may be connected to other areas of the body. For example, dropped arches of one or both feet, ovarian cysts or pain referral from an intestinal problem could cause or contribute to low back pain. Arm pain could be related to a nerve problem in the neck, a muscle trigger point or referred pain from a heart attack.
Dr. Austin practices brain-based as well as spine-based chiropractic. By conducting a thorough neurological exam, brain function and symmetry of electrical output from the brain can be evaluated and the nature of persistent dysfunctional or disease conditions can be better understood and managed. Dr. Austin’s chiropractic approach combines many different and yet connected therapies including manual coupled adjustments, physiotherapy, nutritional therapies and brain based neurological rehabilitative procedures to give you state-of-the-art holistic health care.
Dr. Austin’s journey has been one of continual expansion in knowledge of many different areas of chiropractic care. In 1995, he finished a 3 year degree through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. He received the CCSP (Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician) certificate and is board eligible for the diplomate degree (DACBSP). In 2003, Dr. Austin received his degree as a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB). After getting his diplomate in neurology he has gone on to finish 150 hours in Neurobehavioral Disorders (ADD/ADHD, Autism), 150 hours in Neurochemistry, 150 hours in Vestibular Rehabilitation, and currrently 75 hours in Movement Disorders. These areas of specialty work have afforded Dr. Austin a variety of techniques for working with patients who may have difficult and frustrating conditions that don’t respond to traditional chiropractic or medical care.
